Focus On…Life After
What comes next? These last few months have been quite the whirlwind and with graduation it was the grand conclusion to my collegiate experience. Family, friends and loved ones came together for the crossover event of the century or at least for my 22 years of existence. Maybe another time I’ll share more on what was my graduation experience.
As the dust begins to settle, I’m left wondering what comes next. Watching my friends begin to except offers and move to new cities reminds me all to well that there is something that comes after. All my life, for the most part, what came next was planned. Now I stand, at the precipice of my next great adventure and I have no idea how It’ll unfold.
Before, graduation I reread “The Alchemist”. I’d heard rereading it at different points of our lives can provide great insight into our current experiences. What I took away from my second pass at the book was to trust the journey that I’m on. Omens, or signs from the universe will present themselves and it’s up to me fully utilize and accept them. On graduation day a Sun Dog, or Circular Rainbow appeared and blessed the class of 2023. That omen excited me for what lie ahead. I’d never seen one before so to have seen this on graduation day was a blessing.
Within days, I was back in Miami and preparing for my summer travels. My first stop took me to Portugal with my pops. We had a blast exploring Lisbon and Porto. Then it happened again. Exactly two weeks after graduation, we’d seen a another sun dog in Lisbon. To me, I interpreted it as reassurance that I am in fact on my way. On my way to what exactly, that remains to be seen.
While my dad, went back to Miami, I began my journey to Japan. A place I’d long to visit. This was and is a gift to myself for all the hard work I’d put in the last few years. As I begin my Tokyo Drifting, I’m excited to have some fire ramen, explore historic temples and put my Japanese skills to use.
What comes next? I had alot of hesitation about what came next. But now I’m sure of what comes next. A single step. No journey could commence without a single step forward. If the universe has taught me anything, it is to continue forward. Within an open mind, body and heart,I charge onward. I’m grateful for all that was, all that is and all that is come.
